Beginning late September 2026, founder Julia Loewi will welcome clients to a private office serving Lakewood Ranch, University Park, Sarasota, and the surrounding Gulf Coast communities. Reclaim offers a thoughtful, direct, and clinically grounded setting for couples and individuals navigating relationship strain, major life transitions, betrayal, financial conflict, career pressure, and uncertainty about the future of a relationship.

Why Lakewood Ranch

Lakewood Ranch is home to people building full and demanding lives: careers, businesses, families, homes, and communities. For many couples, the pace and responsibility of that life can leave little room to notice the gradual shifts in a relationship—until distance, resentment, conflict, or loneliness becomes difficult to ignore.

The new Lakewood Ranch office provides a local, private setting for clients who want specialized couples therapy closer to home. It is an option for partners who may appear capable and well supported from the outside, yet privately feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or unable to move through the same painful patterns on their own.

Sessions are held in person by appointment at 9040 Town Center Parkway, as well as virtually across Florida and Ontario.

Couples Therapy for Complex Lives

Some couples are very good at carrying a great deal. They lead teams, care for children or aging parents, make consequential decisions, manage finances, and keep moving through a full life.

That capability can be an asset. It can also make it easier to postpone difficult conversations, minimize distress, or assume that a relationship problem should be manageable without support. Over time, conversations can become more functional than connected. Conflict may repeat without resolution. Partners may feel lonely beside one another, even while continuing to meet the visible demands of daily life.

At Reclaim, Julia works with couples who may appear to have built a successful life, yet no longer feel fully connected within it. Therapy offers a confidential place to slow down, understand the patterns at work, and address not only what is happening between partners, but what it means in the context of their histories, responsibilities, and hopes for the future.

Julia works with business owners, professionals, parents, and partners navigating substantial family or financial responsibilities. She also works with couples who have tried therapy before and want a more focused, nuanced approach.

What Couples Therapy with Julia Loewi Looks Like

Julia integrates three complementary ways of understanding a relationship: the patterns that unfold between partners, the attachment needs beneath those patterns, and the personal histories that give them meaning. The work is not limited to a single technique stretched across every problem; it is tailored to the couple, the concern bringing them in, and the deeper dynamics that may be keeping them stuck.

The Gottman Method

As a Level 3 trained Gottman clinician, Julia uses the Gottman Method to examine the observable patterns between partners: how conflict escalates, how repair attempts land or fail, and how trust, friendship, intimacy, and commitment are built or eroded over time. The approach is structured, research-informed, and gives couples a shared language for recognizing what is happening between them in real time.

Emotion Focused Therapy

Emotion Focused Therapy, or EFT, addresses the attachment dynamics beneath those interactions: the fear of disconnection, rejection, inadequacy, or loss that can drive criticism, withdrawal, defensiveness, or the same conflict in different forms. Where behavioral work helps couples change what they do, attachment-focused work helps them understand what those behaviors may be protecting.

Psychodynamic and Relational Work

Psychodynamic and relational work adds another dimension: an understanding of how earlier relationships, family patterns, unconscious expectations, and past experiences may shape the way each partner gives and receives love, manages conflict, seeks closeness, or protects themselves from disappointment. A present-day argument is not always only about the present. Often, it carries the emotional weight of older experiences and familiar relational roles.

This kind of close attention to the meaning beneath a couple’s conflict may be familiar to viewers of Couples Therapy, the documentary series featuring psychoanalyst Dr. Orna Guralnik. At Reclaim, this lens helps ensure that practical strategies and attachment work are applied with attention to each couple’s particular history and emotional world. Dr. Guralnik describes psychodynamic psychotherapy as focusing on unconscious thoughts and feelings, while relational therapy examines the impact of early and current relationships on a person’s sense of self and well-being.

Beyond Communication Skills Alone

Some relationship concerns require attention to questions beyond communication and conflict management: desire, sexual connection, individuality, betrayal, power, money, ambition, and the changing meaning of commitment over time. These themes are widely explored in the work of psychotherapist Esther Perel, whose writing and conversations have brought greater public attention to intimacy, desire, infidelity, and the complexities of modern partnership.

Julia also offers discernment counseling for couples who are uncertain whether they want to repair the relationship or end it. For couples whose conflict runs through money, career, security, or control, she brings an additional financial-social-work lens informed by her Certified Financial Social Work credential.

Concerns Addressed in Therapy

Julia works with couples and individuals facing concerns including:

  • Persistent conflict, communication breakdowns, or emotional distance

  • Infidelity, betrayal, and the work of rebuilding trust

  • Career pressure, leadership demands, and work-related strain on the relationship

  • Parenting, role changes, and resentment around emotional, domestic, or caregiving labor

  • Financial conflict, business ownership, inheritance, family wealth, or differing values around money

  • Family-of-origin patterns and in-law dynamics

  • Perfectionism, burnout, anxiety, stress, and the cumulative impact of a demanding life

  • Questions about separation, divorce, or whether a relationship can be restored

  • Trauma and its impact on intimacy, safety, and connection

For couples who are uncertain whether they want to remain together, Julia also offers discernment counseling: a structured process that helps each partner gain greater clarity before deciding whether to pursue repair or separation.

Beginning Couples Therapy

Beginning therapy does not require a polished explanation of the problem or agreement about every detail.

In an initial consultation, Julia will learn about the concerns bringing you in, the history of the relationship, each partner’s perspective, and what you hope will be different. The process is structured enough to make good use of your time while allowing room for the complexity that rarely fits into a simple description.

Clients do not need to simplify their lives, perform wellness, or have the right language before beginning. The work starts with an honest account of what has become difficult and a shared effort to understand what may be possible from here.

Yes. Beginning late September 2026, Julia Loewi offers in-person couples therapy, discernment counseling, and intensive therapy at 9040 Town Center Parkway in Lakewood Ranch.

What therapy models does Reclaim use for couples therapy?

Julia Loewi works from three models: the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and a psychodynamic foundation, supplemented by discernment counseling and a financial therapy protocol for couples whose conflict centers on money, career, or control.

What is discernment counseling and is it available in Lakewood Ranch?

Yes. Discernment counseling is a short-term process (typically one to five sessions) for couples in which one or both partners are uncertain whether to pursue repair, separation, or divorce. Rather than working immediately on reconciliation, it helps each partner gain clarity and decide on one of three paths: staying as-is, moving toward divorce, or committing to a defined period of full couples therapy before deciding.

Does Julia Loewi work with executives, physicians, founders, and other professionals specifically?

Yes. The practice specializes in couples navigating the pressures of high-performance careers, business ownership, and significant wealth, alongside more traditional relationship concerns.
